Kevin Ware, USGO 2004 Tournament Director
Welcome to the USGO 2004 information page!
Here are some highlights of the USGO 2004:
- By popular demand, the sites for this year’s tournament
have been reduced to two facilities: Golden Gate Park and San
Francisco State University (Friday and Saturday only).
- Join us for our USGO-only evening indoors
at the San Francisco Tennis Club. All are welcome to come and
watch the exciting opening rounds of the mixed doubles competition
- Our Thursday evening draw party at our host hotel,
where you can meet and socialize with the other participants.
- Our traditional Women’s Social on Friday night
(as always, men are welcome!)
- An entertaining and elegant Sunday evening banquet
at the Westin St. Francis Hotel on Union Square, complete with
a raffle and a performance by our featured entertainer, Scott
Capurro.
- All finals on Memorial Day, Monday, May 31, 2004
at the Golden Gate Park tennis complex. Come watch some excellent
tennis!

Confirmation of a players division and his/her seeding
will be based on the GLTA points system. USTA rankings may also
be used for seeding of participants in the open draws. Cross-divisional
play will not be allowed. Participants must play at their highest
rated level for all divisions. ALL male Singles participants should
be prepared to play on Friday, May 28, 2004.
Withdrawals/Cancellations
You may withdraw and receive a full refund if you notify the tournament
director prior to May 21, 2004 (1 week prior to the start of the
tournament).
The USGO reserves the right to cancel events with fewer than 8 players/teams
by the deadline. If you’re entered in a cancelled event you have
the following options: 1) elect to play in a higher division (if
space is available), 2) request a partial refund of your registration
fee to reflect the cancelled event, or 3) withdraw from the tournament
with a full registration fee refund.
*Women whose event is cancelled due to low turn out can request
to be placed in an appropriate men's draw.
Playing Multiple Events
Please be aware of your limitations. Playing multiple events (2-3)
may entail playing multiple matches (3-5 matches) everyday if you
keep winning!
Match Scoring and Consolation
Regular scoring and best two of three tiebreak sets will be
used, except in mixed doubles and consolations. A 12-point tiebreaker
(super tiebreak) in lieu of the third set will be used for mixed
doubles. Consolation rounds will be 8-game pro-sets with a regular
tiebreak at 7 All. Scoring for all events may be changed if circumstances
warrant.
Consolation play will be available to Singles participants who lose
their first scheduled match.
Host Hotel & Hosted Housing
