PostHeaderIcon I Had A Dream… An Andy Roddick Dream…

I normally don’t ever post items like this. But this particular dream was so vivid I figured I should share it to a broader audience than just my Facebook friends! I posted an entry on Andy Roddick before going to bed, so I’m pretty sure that was the impetus for what was to follow.

I was playing a match Against Andy in a large semi-dark warehouse space with fading afternoon light coming in through the windows. It was a good close match, but I finally got it to match point in the second set. Andy executed a fairly decent dropshot, with the ball spinning out to the doubles alley on my deuce court side. Somehow, I managed to make it up to the ball and, in a replay of shots I have seen on the Tennis Channel, used my two-handed lefty backhand to hit a nice shot up the line past a charging Roddick for the win. He dropped his head in resignation but applauded the shot, and acknowledging his defeat.

I turned to yell at the top of my lungs (to no one in particular since we had no audience, only a chair umpire) and then went to the net to shake hands with Andy. I may have even hit my chest with my fist while yelling… the details are a little blurry, so I’m not totally sure on that one. But you get the gist.

I was so excited about my win that I pulled out my old Samsung flip phone out of my pocket to take a picture of us right there at the net. For some reason I couldn’t manage a good shot, so I handed my camera to the chair umpire to take it for me. I didn’t get a good look at his face but I think it was Mohamed Lahyani, one of my favorite umpires. He took a few good ones that he showed us before giving us an electronic checkers game to play. We sat down in a couple of chairs and played right there at the net.

That’s when I woke up…

There are so many things that are so very wrong with this dream, I don’t even know where to begin!!!!!! 😉
Playing Andy Roddick as a 4.0? “BEATING” Andy Roddick as a 4.0? Me as a lefty? A Samsung flip phone? My head spins with these and all of the other ridiculous details.
What do you think?
