I have spent a huge amount of time the past few days redoing the code for the pages on my website. It’s been many years since I created this particular version, and it really showed when you looked at the code.
There wasn’t effective use of styles, way too many tables, bad formatting… the list could go on. So I made some cosmetic changes to the existing page graphics and then did a total layout update using divs and better styles. Also implemented better use of include pages and for the first time, a master page. Finally I’m able to make large-scale changes to my site by changing 3 or 4 files. Who knew?!?!?!? LOL
The thing that took the longest time to figure out was the mailform for my contact page. I had been using a pretty decent one…or so I thought. But the validation wasn’t working properly. And the confirmation page was created from within the php file throught the PRINT ” method. And because I didn’t want to go blind figuring out how to make my newly-structured pages could be done in that manner, I used PHP Form Magic to create the base form with the fields I wanted and validation. Then I customized the validation html. Turned out pretty well I think.
The next step will be adding in the Galleries and Media sections. UGH!!!!!!! Wish me luck. I’m gonna need it. 🙂
