Check out my Geek blog. After my adventures last year in rooting my G Tablet, I finally bit the bullet and rooted my Samsung Vibrant. With no pending TMo or manufacturer (Samsung) updates, I figured "bloatware be gone"! Check out my rooting adventures here.
Also, here's continual shout-out to my gal pals Marla and Sheila at City Racquet Shop. I like to support local businesses. And more than that I like to support my friends' business ventures. It's a great feeling to know that I can trust all of my tennis needs to someone who is so well-respected and knows their shit! ;-) Their store is on San Jose Ave in the outer mission. Check it out, and tell them "Kevin sent me". It won't get you free schwag, but I'll get a big hug the next time I go in for a stringing.

I haven't forgotten about my tech blog either... so stay tuned for a few updates coming up on that one. Recently I realized that my "rooted" G Tablet is operating an unsupported ROM (CyanogenMod 7). It's a good one, but kinda buggy too... and in ways that matter. So I will probably end up loading another ROM on that one and maybe even getting another tablet that genuinely runs Honeycomb. We'll see. That's all for now. Later.

Back in April when I made my last update I also made some structural changes to the home page to make news updates easier. I had every intention of getting back into regular update mode. I got sidetracked, however, and never even posted the page code changes. I just happened to discover them while looking at page files on my server. Big DUH!!! But all is forgiven and the changes are posted.
A quick recap on the past several months: travel, travel, and more travel. To Miami, Hawaii, Vegas, and more recently Spain and Portugal. It's all been to warm weather climates. And if you lived in SF you would understand why! ;-) Pictures of all the travels to come... but for now I will post some panorama pictures that I recently took with my Samsung Vibrant (very cool phone).

So much has happened in the past few months that I haven't had a lot of time for doing any updates to my website or my technical blog. Much of it initially surrounded the need I had to just lay low and reflect on the death of my friend, Henry. I think at any time when you experience something so profound as an intimate experience of a friend/loved one's death, it necessitates reflection...then action. I took a few weeks time to reflect (still ongoing actually) and then began to take some actions. All good, and all ones that help me to remember that I live a good life. Tennis, love, good food and friends, it all adds into the mix. And I've got a pretty good mix going on. ;-) I promise I will update a bit more frequently in the future. Until then, here are some pictures from the past couple of months.

Trying to make up for my lack of updates for months with some continual updates this week. Actually have been up to lots with the site. Have reconfigured the master pages for a better performing code layout. Also re-coded the nav to make it more easily expandable. Why expandable? So I could add another section to my site called Musings. Think of it as a manual tweet. Even better, check it out. I'll try to add stuff everyday or so.
Sitting at home watching some US Open tennis on a foggy Saturday evening in SF. Their streaming video of the live matches is INCREDIBLE!!! You should definitely check it out at http://www.usopen.org. They are the premier site of all the grand slams now. That's my recommendation for the day...

It's been way too long since my last update. No excuses... just a very full life that included LOTS of stuff...mostly good. Started with the end of a long difficult project at work, then on to a much-needed vacation in Miami followed by a breakup.
Then on to a knee injury followed by a trip to London, followed by knee surgery, another trip to London, surgery rehab, sun in San Fran, then tons of new jeans. Once finished it was time to roll up my sleeves and update the site. Got some techy stuff too I'll write about in the blog over the weekend.
Here is a sampling of pics representing the past several months. Click on the thumbnails for a larger version:

The result is that the site build is much cleaner. And the Designs, Contact, and Media pages are MUCH better... not quite so crappy. LOL. Please take a look and let me know what you think. And the picture is from a website called http://thisiswhyyourefat.com/. It's a The Double Bacon Hamburger Fatty Melt...mmmmmmmmmm. Just kinda struck my fancy. How can you go wrong with bacon and cheese?!?!? ;-)

Happy Halloween everyone!
I have save most of my election opinions for my blog. But I will say just one thing emphatically here:
VOTE, VOTE, VOTE!
Look for blog updates on my DGS search and html emails soon...

STILL been very busy at work with lots of projects, but that's no excuse for the lame amount of updates the past month! I had wanted to do a couple of shoutouts in particular of things that I thought were really cool or wanted to acknowledge... Well I guess better late than never. The first shoutout goes to Keri and Joe at Active Care Physical Therapy. It was a year ago on Sept. 7 that I had shoulder surgery to remove some bone spurs. The rehab was tough, but they guided and pushed me through. Now I have as much if not more mobility than before without the pain I had been living with. Thanks guys!
The other shoutout goes to the musical "Spring Awakening". If you have a chance to check it out in your city I would highly recommend it. The music is moving, the story (albeit a little dark for a musical) is powerful. The performances are good too. Check it out.
Look for a blog update (finally) on my DGS search and how to easily get that added to your website.

Been very busy at work with lots of coding projects... which means I'm not so inclined to come home and do more coding. But I have added to my blog "Code Share" posts in my blog. So hopefully that's helping someone else do a lot less Googling. ;-)
BTW, decided to archive my "Latest Site News" postings. After a year or so of postings it's always nice to look back and see my ramblings.

I've decided to go geek with my site and blog. LOL. Check out my "Code Sharing" posts.

GOODBYE GODADDY AND HELLO LAUGHING SQUID!
My new webhost company is a local S.F. company with lots of community roots. I yelped them before signing up and got a fair amount of rave review... from people who weren't hosting sites unfortunately. Found some though from users who DID have sites and they seemed to be a good solid company that is kinda small but cares about the user. Sounds good to me!
Check out their blog when you get a chance... pretty interesting.

Godaddy is gonna be GoneDaddy real soon... After two frustrating days of finding out that there are serious limitations in my site hosting (coupled with serious deficiencies in technical support), I decided to move my site again. This time to a local SF company with a good solid reputation and much more personal level of service. I'll explain more about the reasons for leaving GoDaddy in the blog tomorrow.
(JULY 30, 2008)
After much work and some mounting frustration, I'm not sure I will keep my site on the GoDaddy host. I have a site search ready to go (that I have used very successfully on other sites), but can't get it to function on this host. Tried another simpler one and that wouldn't work either. I did some Googling and found out that many people have this kind of issue with Google and some executable php scripts.
I also found out that GoDaddy makes it pretty difficult for Google to index your site. Why is that important? I don't know... maybe since Google is the world's biggest search engine, and if they can't find you then you really don't exist for all practical purposes. Right?
So yeah, not really happy these days. And you know you're in trouble when you call in for support and the best they can do is read you the online help that you realized was useless anyway... so you called support! Oi vey. ;)
Anyway, stay tuned for any impending moves. In the meantime, I at least got one potential RSS feed from my blog to work. Not the way I would like and unfortunately with an ad link. But at least some website progress was made today. Hopefully there will be more when my support ticket is dealt with.
Wish me luck!
(JULY 24, 2008)
Welcome to the site and its' new GoDaddy webhost. I will be refreshing and updating the look and the pages over the next week or so. As well I will be adding a blog to document the page progress and maybe some other technical stuff. It feels good to finally be making many changes to the look and layout of the site (it's been way too long, I know)
Please keep checking back to chart the progress! The "designs@kevware.com" section will be up first probably. A good thing since it is my portfolio site! Galleries will hopefully be up soon after that, as well as content for the media page. Check out the new blog. And as always feel free to send me an email via the Contact page.
